What to Expect at Your First Session

We know taking the first step toward wellness can be challenging. We’re here for you.
To schedule your first appointment at the Harrell Family Center for Behavioral Wellness call 863.687.1222.

Your first therapy session is focused on making you feel safe, comfortable, and heard. It’s natural to feel a little anxious about opening up, but our therapists provide a judgment-free space where you can share at your own pace. Whether you’re experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, life transitions, or trauma, we’re here to help.

During this session, your therapist will ask about your background, relationships, and past experiences to better understand your concerns. You won’t be pressured to discuss anything you’re not ready to share. Together, you and your therapist will identify goals for treatment and explore personalized therapy approaches, such as CBT, EMDR, or trauma-focused therapy.

With a multidisciplinary team that includes specialists in women’s health, chronic pain, and childhood trauma, we take a comprehensive, collaborative approach to care. Our community-grown and nationally recognized team provides you with high-quality, personalized support.

Your first appointment with a psychiatrist or psychiatric nurse practitioner is a welcoming and thorough experience. Feeling a little nervous is normal, but our providers are warm, compassionate, and ready to listen. In a supportive, non-judgmental space, you’ll discuss what brought you in and begin your journey toward feeling better.

This session is an opportunity to talk about your concerns, medical and mental health history, and goals for treatment. Your provider will work with you to develop a personalized care plan, which may include medication options (if appropriate), therapy, or lifestyle recommendations like improving sleep, nutrition, or stress management. This is a collaborative process; you and your provider will decide together what feels right.

At our multidisciplinary clinic, we have specialists in women’s health, chronic pain, childhood trauma, and more, allowing your psychiatrist to collaborate with other experts as needed. Our approach is community-grown, with nationally recognized expertise, ensuring you receive high-quality, personalized care.

Ready to take the next step? Call us at 863.687.1222 to schedule your first psychiatry appointment.

Starting an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) can feel like a big step, but you’re not alone. We’re here to support you every step of the way. On your first day, you’ll be welcomed by our team and introduced to the program’s structure.

You’ll meet with a clinician who will guide you through the process, answer any questions, and ensure you feel comfortable. You’ll also participate in your first group therapy session, where you’ll connect with others who understand what you’re going through. Group discussions are supportive, confidential, and focused on practical skills to help you manage challenges.

Throughout your time in IOP, you’ll work with our multidisciplinary team. Together, we’ll build a treatment plan that fits your needs, whether that includes therapy, medication management, lifestyle changes, or coping strategies.

IOP is designed to provide intensive support while allowing you to maintain your daily life, whether that means work, school, or family responsibilities. You’re taking an important step toward healing, and we’re honored to be part of your journey.

Have questions or ready to start? Call us at 863.687.1222 to learn more about our IOP program.
