Carol Jenkins Barnett Pavilion for Women and Children
The Carol Jenkins Barnett Pavilion for Women and Children, opening in 2018, will be a special healthcare destination providing compassionate and safe care during life’s most important moments. The eight-story Carol Jenkins Barnett Pavilion for Women and Children is designed to deliver clinical excellence and family-centered care for children and women of all ages, using best practices and state-of-the-art technology while offering privacy, comfort and elegance that redefines personalized care. The opening of this facility will allow us to establish a Level III NICU to provide treatment for babies born weighing less than 1,000 grams and those who are more critically ill.
The Carol Jenkins Barnett Pavilion for Women and Children is named in honor of Mrs. Barnett as a promise to our community for a healthier shared future. The Pavilion celebrates Mrs. Barnett’s compassionate heart and generous spirit.

With more than 3,000 deliveries at Lakeland Regional Health Medical Center each year, we are experienced in welcoming babies into the world!
Our spacious home-like birthing suites allow expectant mothers to be surround by family and friends while under the care of our highly skilled obstetric nurses.
An on-site anesthesiologist is available around the clock. Our perinatologists assist mothers facing a high-risk pregnancy.
We also provide childbirth classes, pregnancy program and breastfeeding assistance.
Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
As the area’s largest Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Lakeland Regional Health Medical Center is specially equipped to care for newborns as small as 2.2 pounds. Our on-staff neonatologist work closely with our highly trained NICU nurses and respiratory therapists to deliver the most sophisticate care in a technologically advanced and nurturing environment. Our preemies and at-risk newborns begin to thrive with the comfort of our womb-like cradles and warm gel mattresses.
We have a 47-bed pediatric medical/surgical unit as well as a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. We also offer nine beds in our mental health unit dedicated to children and adolescents and a 10-bed Pediatric Emergency Department. We offer a Certified Child Life Specialist who helps children and their families cope with the challenges of hospitalization and illness.
Patients needing specialty care after discharge can be seen conveniently close to home by the physicians of Nemours Children’s Health System.
The Carol Jenkins Barnett Pavilion for Women and Children will include approximately 300,000 square feet of inpatient and outpatient space on the south side of the Medical Center campus. The project is expected to be complete in early 2018. This new facility addition was planned after extensive research on needed healthcare services was conducted and is part of a master facility plan that is working toward the eventual elimination of semi-private rooms at the Medical Center.
The Carol Jenkins Barnett Pavilion for Women and Children will be part of a premier program centered on providing personalized and comprehensive care for the women of our communities. It will be designed to encompass the full continuum of care for women including:
• cancer care
• women’s cardiology
• labor and delivery
• women’s surgery
