FAQs Respiratory Care Center
The Respiratory Care Center is a specific location dedicated to the care and treatment of those with symptoms of COVID-19 and other acute respiratory illnesses. Think of the Respiratory Care Center as an urgent care alternative for respiratory illnesses.
As of June 23, 2020, the Respiratory Care Center is located at 320 Parkview Place, across the street from the Medical Center's Main Emergency Department.
The Respiratory Care Center sees patients from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to noon Saturday and Sunday.
- Instead of having to go to one doctor to be examined and then another site for an X-
ray and still another for testing, the Respiratory Care Center provides one
convenient location for all these services!
- By having a designated location for this type of care, patients being seen at our
primary care and specialty care locations throughout our community will reduce
their risk of exposure to COVID-19 or other respiratory illnesses.
- This will also ensure team member safety, as all team members will be wearing
personal protective equipment at the Respiratory Care Center.
- All providers are specially trained in the care of acute respiratory illnesses.
The Respiratory Care Center is open to those ages 2 years and older.
There are several ways to be seen:
- Call 863.284.5000 to schedule an appointment.
- Walk-in patients are welcome. As patients arrive, they will go directly to
an exam room to avoid contact with other patients.
- Physician’s Order: If your doctor has prescribed a COVID-19 test, please call 863.284.5000 to receive instructions before visiting the Respiratory Care Center.
We will see those with acute lower and upper respiratory symptoms, such as cough, fever, sore throat, shortness of breath, nasal congestion as well as patients with a physician’s order to be tested for COVID-19 who are looking for a nearby testing site.
At the Respiratory Care Center, more than testing is provided. Patients also can have examinations performed and X-rays taken.
The Respiratory Care Center and the Emergency Department at the Lakeland Regional Health Medical Center offer convenient and comprehensive respiratory care.
Our Drive-Thru Testing Center in Parking Lot N13, north of the Lakeland Regional Health Medical Center offers COVID-19 testing for those with a doctor's testing order and appointment.
Our Lake Miriam Urgent Care and Gateway Walk-In Care do not perform COVID-19 testing.
The Respiratory Care Center is not designed for those with chronic respiratory conditions who need ongoing medical care and management, such as asthma or Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. If you have severe symptoms, such as difficulty breathing, please visit the nearest emergency room or call 9-1-1.
Yes. Our revised Companion Policy
remains in effect at all of our locations. For the safety of patients, visitors and team members, those accompanying patients who are not needed to assist the patient during the exam will be asked to remain outside of the building.
