5 Infused Water Combos to Keep You Hydrated

By SAMANTHA BROCK

Summer vacation may be coming to an end for kids going back to school, but the heat is still going strong.  With temperatures in the 90s, it’s essential to stay hydrated.

Water makes up about 60% of our body weight.  How much water we need can depend on where we live, our gender, our health status and how active we are. According to Mayo Clinic, men generally need around 15.5 cups (3.7 liters) and women need about 11.5 cups (2.7 liters) per day.

If you, like many of us, struggle to drink enough each day, infused water can help you get there.

It’s super simple to make and completely customizable. You can choose what to use and how much. Infused water can also be tailored to specific health conditions. If you’re diabetic and prefer to stay away from sugary fruits, you can try infusing your water with herbs instead. You can even eat the fruit if you want – as long as you don’t mind it being a little soggy.

To make your infused water the best it can be, make sure to wash your fruits and herbs off before you place them into the water. Fruits like blueberries and raspberries can be thrown in whole, but citrus and strawberries should be cut for maximum flavor. You’ll also want to give your herbs a little crush to release their oils before dropping them into the water.
