Publix Pharmacy Coming Soon to Lakeland Regional Medical Center
Monday, July 29 2013
A Publix Pharmacy is slated to open this September within Lakeland Regional Medical Center to serve the needs of patients, visitors and employees. The pharmacy will be located within the B lobby concourse on the same north end of the Medical Center as the Parkview Café.
“We wanted to make it convenient for patients and family members to fill a new prescription at the hospital before they returned home as well as easily obtain refills at a pharmacy near their home,” said Elaine Thompson, PhD, president and CEO of Lakeland Regional Health Systems. “Working with Publix has been a wonderful experience. You can see their commitment to excellence in customer service in everything they do and in every aspect of their company,” Thompson continued. “I believe we can learn a lot from working with them. Our organizations share a collective passion for the residents of Lakeland and our region, and together we are committed to improving the health and well-being of those we are so fortunate to collectively serve.”
The pharmacy will be open seven days a week with extended evening hours to accommodate Emergency Department patients and others who may want to fill a prescription prior to leaving the Lakeland Regional campus. Although the walk-up Publix Pharmacy will primarily fill new prescriptions, refills will also be dispensed as a convenience to LRMC employees and visitors. Any customer using the Publix Pharmacy in LRMC to fill a prescription will be able to obtain refills at another Publix pharmacy that is part of a large network of outlets throughout Lakeland, Polk County and neighboring communities.
“Publix Pharmacies have been dedicated to the total health and wellness needs of our customers and their families,” said Fred Ottolino, Vice President Pharmacy Operations. “The opportunity to bring our level of customer care to patients of Lakeland Regional Medical Center not only allows us to meet their immediate needs, but to also build long-term relationships with our customers as they return home. We look to bring the high caliber of pharmacists and service found in our Publix in-store pharmacies to hospital patients, visitors and staff for their convenience and peace of mind. ”
Besides prescription services, the pharmacy will also sell some over-the-counter medications and durable medical equipment supplies such as orthopedic braces.
