PRESS RELEASE — Lakeland Regional Health Stroke Program Recertified by The Joint Commission

stroke_recertificationLakeland, FL — Lakeland Regional Health’s Advanced Primary Stroke Center has again received certification from The Joint Commission, complying with 27 consensus-based national standards for healthcare quality and stroke-specific care.

“We are so proud that The Joint Commission recertified our Stroke Center,” said Elaine C. Thompson, PhD, FACHE, Lakeland Regional Health President and CEO. “The Stroke Center team is dedicated to delivering rapid, safe and effective care to our patients. This is one of many ways we maintain our commitment to excellence.”

“Our Stroke Center provides essential, expert care to our community,” said Mack Reavis, MD, Lakeland Regional Health Medical Center President and Lakeland Regional Health Chief Medical Officer. “Our dedicated Stroke Unit team uses highly advanced technology to save lives and minimize brain damage in stroke patients.”

Lakeland Regional Health underwent a rigorous onsite review in May. Programs certified by The Joint Commission must demonstrate a systematic approach to care delivery and a commitment to performance improvement through ongoing data collection and analysis. The discipline and self-assessment in meeting these requirements creates a road map to improving patient care quality. The Joint Commission Gold Seal of Approval is a well-recognized symbol to both healthcare providers and healthcare consumers.

“In achieving Joint Commission certification, Lakeland Regional Health has demonstrated its commitment to the highest level of care for its stroke patients,” says Jean Range, MS, RN, CPHQ, Executive Director of Disease-Specific Care Certification for The Joint Commission. “Certification is a voluntary process and I commend Lakeland Regional Health for successfully undertaking this challenge to elevate its standard of care and instill confidence in the community it serves.”
