PRESS RELEASE — Lakeland Regional Health Recognized for Its Electronic Medical Record Systems

himss_postLakeland, FL — Lakeland Regional Health (LRH) is proud to announce it has been awarded a high-level designation for the electronic medical records systems in use at 13 of its campuses.

The designation is awarded by HIMSS Analytics, a not-for-profit organization that develops stages a healthcare system must go through for high-quality implementation and use of information technology applications. LRH has reached Stage 6 for HIMSS Analytics electronic medical records adoption model at its ambulatory clinics. The final phase is Stage 7, and LRH has begun working toward that designation.

“We are proud of our many team members who implement, support and employ information technology in our ambulatory clinics,” said Elizabeth Kerns, MSIS, Lakeland Regional Health Vice President and Chief Information Officer. “This is a wonderful acknowledgement that we embrace digital systems to deliver exceptional care to our patients and families.”

“Our use of technology is redefining medicine, advancing safe and quality patient care, promoting healing and wellness, and creating an exceptional workplace,” said Elaine Thompson, PhD, FACHE, Lakeland Regional Health President and CEO.

With this honor, Lakeland Regional Health joins a prestigious group of nationally recognized healthcare systems, such as UNC Health Care System, Stony Brook University Medical Center and University of Rochester Medical Center.

“Reaching Stage 6 is a result of focus, good direction and steadfast commitment from leadership,” according to HIMSS Analytics. “Stage 6 institutions have established clear goals for improving safety, minimizing errors and prioritizing IT implementations. HIMSS Analytics is proud of the providers who have achieved Stage 6.”
