PRESS RELEASE: Lakeland Regional Health Opens Two New Hybrid Operating Rooms

As the region’s leader in cardiac and vascular care, Lakeland Regional Health has completed construction on a $14.6 million surgical suite expansion on the Medical Center campus that includes two additional state-of-the-art hybrid operating rooms. In addition, two oversized surgical suites that accommodate robotic surgery and a post anesthesia care unit are part of the expansion. The new facilities opened this week.

“Lakeland Regional Health’s surgical suite expansion is indicative of our promise to deliver nationally recognized healthcare to our community,” said Mack Reavis, MD, Medical Center President and LRH Chief Medical Officer. “With this addition, we are able to provide even more patients with the lifesaving flexibility that hybrid operating rooms offer.”

LRH opened Polk County’s first hybrid OR in 2013. Today it continues to offer patients the elite standard of cardiac care essential for Polk County’s growing population. With these additions, LRH now has a total of 26 surgical suites.

Using highly advanced imaging devices, physicians provide patients with the least invasive surgeries possible in hybrid operating rooms, while offering the flexibility of traditional procedures when necessary. This image guidance allows physicians to evaluate, intervene and assess the results of minimally invasive procedures, more complex procedures and open surgical cases.

Though used first for vascular and cardiac procedures, trauma, neurosurgery and orthopedic patients requiring specific procedures can also be served in the new hybrid operating rooms.
