PRESS RELEASE: Lakeland Regional Health Continues to Expand Its Outreach with Land Acquisition

Lakeland, FL – Lakeland Regional Health (LRH) is looking to expand its community outreach with the purchase of 100 acres of land on US Highway 98 just south of County Road 540A.

The purchase of the land is contingent upon rezoning by the City of Bartow Planning and Zoning Commission. A zoning hearing is planned for March 9.

“The purchase of this property is a long-term strategic investment that will position us to deliver nationally recognized healthcare in new ways to the patients and families of the broad geographic area we serve,” said Elaine C. Thompson, PhD, FACHE, President and CEO of LRH.

Of the purchase, Dr. Thompson added, “Last year, our Board of Directors instructed management to locate a 100 acre parcel of land along a major transportation corridor that offered easy access for residents of South Lakeland and neighboring areas. The Board’s purpose was to prepare for the future where the challenges of a growing population will create a need for more services and infrastructure, including access to high quality healthcare.”

There is currently no timeline for development of the $7.5 million property.
