Lakeland Regional Health Cancer Center is proud to announce its Breast Cancer Program has been re-accredited through 2018 by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC), overseen by the American College of Surgeons. To achieve NAPBC accreditation, Lakeland Regional Health Cancer Center demonstrated a strong commitment to offer patients the best possible care in their battle against breast disease.

“Our Cancer Center team’s passion is to use clinical expertise and advanced technology to take the best care of patients and their families and make their journey one filled with hope,” said Graham F. Greene, MD, FACS, FRCS, Lakeland Regional Health Cancer Center Executive Director and Lakeland Regional Health Chief Academic Officer. “This accreditation speaks to the quality of our care.”

Lakeland Regional Health Cancer Center underwent a rigorous evaluation process in spring 2015. To receive accreditation, the Center complied with standards established by the NAPBC for treating women who are diagnosed with the full spectrum of breast disease. These standards include proficiency in leadership, clinical management, research, community outreach, professional education and quality improvement.

This accreditation gives patients considering Lakeland Regional Health Cancer Center confidence knowing that they will have access to comprehensive, state-of-the-art care; a multidisciplinary care approach; information about ongoing clinical trials and new treatments; and quality breast care, close to home.

“We are so proud of our Cancer Center,” said Elaine C. Thompson, PhD, FACHE, Lakeland Regional Health President and CEO. “Earning this re-accreditation is the result of the hard work of our team members who provide remarkable care during our patients’ times of critical need.”

Lakeland Regional Health Cancer Center is in the midst of a 21,800-square-foot expansion, adding 40 new chemotherapy stations with lakefront views, larger pharmacy, 250-seat teaching auditorium, additional parking and a chapel. Construction is expected to be completed in January 2016.
