Lakeland Regional Medical Center to Add Dr. Daniel Haight to Leadership Team

Monday, October 22 2012

We are pleased to announce that Daniel Haight, MD, FACP, will join the Lakeland Regional team on November 19, accepting the leadership role of Associate Vice President of Community Health.

Dr. Haight has served as the director of the Polk County Health Department for more than 16 years, and he is revered for his visionary leadership, commitment to team and advancing the health of individuals within this community.

As the fifth largest hospital in Florida, Lakeland Regional will look to Haight to oversee major initiatives outlined in its Community Benefit Plan – to include increasing access to healthcare for non-emergencies, particularly for the uninsured and underserved.

“It is an honor to continue to serve the people of this community,” said Dr. Haight, “and this new role combines preventive healthcare, community health, and a great community institution that serves the entire county and beyond.”

“I share the vision of Lakeland Regional’s president and CEO, Dr. Elaine Thompson, who says by combining health education, community-based preventive healthcare, and exceptional delivery of care, Polk County residents and visitors will receive the best healthcare experience available.”

Dr. Haight says he is proud to join Lakeland Regional’s workforce of nearly 5,000 highly-skilled doctors, nurses, pharmacists, lab personnel, and others, who are delivering exceptional healthcare to this region.  Dr. Haight is board certified in internal medicine and infectious diseases and is also an associate professor at the University of South Florida, Morsani College of Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases and International Medicine.

As Lakeland Regional partners with USF Health to become a teaching hospital, Haight says he is looking forward to working with his colleagues who are committed to fostering a good partnership with the Polk County community in the transformation of healthcare.
