Wednesday, March 13 2013
At its upcoming March 25, 2013 meeting, Lakeland Regional’s Board of Directors will vote on the first phases of a multi-year Master Facility Plan, which includes building a state-of-the-art medical tower. This expansion is part of Lakeland Regional’s ongoing commitment to deliver the highest quality healthcare for the region.
“Lakeland Regional is proud to remain committed to providing our community and beyond with the best healthcare has to offer,” shared Elaine Thompson, President and CEO of Lakeland Regional Health Systems. “This expansion represents one way in which we have partnered with the Watson Clinic and the City of Lakeland to realize the vision and potential of establishing a medical mall corridor. Having our respective campuses come together, like this, creates a modern healthcare destination for the region that ensures the best health outcomes for patients and families.”
The new medical tower will be located across the street from Lakeland Regional’s existing Emergency Department on Parkview Place and will physically join with the north side of the hospital through interior over-the-street connectors. It will include:
- A new Surgical Suite with the capacity for 17 hybrid-sized operating rooms designed to accommodate the latest technology and equipment
- A new expanded Emergency Department
- A new patient- and family-centered Women’s and Children’s Center
- New private patient rooms with the capability to be either ICU or Medical/Surgical Rooms
- A new helipad
In addition, Lakeland Regional plans to construct a new clinical academic building on the south side of the campus to provide the infrastructure for personnel, equipment, facilities and resources necessary to support an appropriate clinical learning environment.
“During the upcoming months, we plan to be in continual dialogue with the community to share how this expansion will deliver today’s best medicine to ensure the best health for tomorrow,” concluded Dr. Thompson.
