LRMC’s Compliance & Integrity Program: Cultivating Quality Care

“One can never be a human being alone.”
Martin Buber

An important part of our Compliance and Integrity Program is the relationship of caring.  This goal arises from our embracing the Quality-Caring Model and the value it places on human relationships.  By embracing this model, LRMC encourages reflection and dialogue conducted in the spirit of rediscovering the professional ethics, human activities, and virtues about medicine and health that make it a moral enterprise.

For most, working in healthcare is a “calling.” It is a narrative quest, as opposed to episodic choices and decisions.  It is a search for identity, a quest for whom or what I am and for what I ought to do and what sort of person am I becoming.  It means putting into action certain virtues which define and give tangible content to the caring profession.

  • Caring
  • Relationships
  • Quality
  • Safety
  • Values
  • Knowledge
  • Outcomes
  • Excellence
  • Environment
  • Opportunity

A significant part of the LRMC Compliance & Integrity Program is cultivating thinking and dialogue about what makes a good person, and the narrative quest for identity and fulfillment of a “calling,” i.e. flourishment.  This exploration opens new opportunities for discovery and builds personal and organizational opportunities for growth and engagement.  Also, it creates a continual understanding of how our own character and journey is an integral part of something larger than our own individuality – the health and future of our community.  It is a promise of integrity to the caregiver’s calling and the elevation of the professional standards that commits us to the community of caregivers and to the excellence that is Lakeland Regional.
