Lakeland Regional Health

W. Mack Reavis, MD

Dr. Mack Reavis serves as the president and chief medical officer for Lakeland Regional Health Systems. In his current role, he relies on his thirty-five years of medical practice and his executive-level leadership experience to perform several critical functions in the complex and dynamic environment of one of Florida’s largest hospitals.

As chief medical officer, he explores opportunities to expand the scope and quality of patient services by building strategic relationships with key healthcare organizations and physician groups.

As chief medical officer, he serves as a liaison between the administration and the medical staff, making sure that policies and practice are synchronized and coordinated to provide optimal patient care. He also oversees the clinical chairs and chiefs, medical directors and the office of medical affairs. He works in close partnership with the medical staff and the leadership team as he develops and directs initiatives to improve performance, quality and patient safety.

By uniting these key functions under Mack’s leadership, LRHS leverages his expertise, insight and natural problem-solving abilities to create opportunities to increase patient satisfaction, safety and access to the highest quality care possible.

His key accomplishments include spearheading quality initiatives to improve perinatal safety and surgical services. He has also completed internal and external assessments on medical staff credentialing and has initiated an action plan for improvement, creating a highly qualified medical staff and paving the way for advanced hospital certifications and accreditations.

Mack’s other other key achievements illustrate dedication to planning for the continued success of LRHS. He has also completed a physician needs assessment across all medical specialties to ensure adequate staffing to position LRHS to meet the future needs of its patients. As part of his commitment to ensuring that patients have access to high quality care, Mack has collaborated with USF Health on neurosurgical services for LRMC patients and has assessed multiple hospital integration opportunities to expand LRHS services. He was also a key participant in forging the academic affiliation with USF Health, which selected LRHS as the inaugural member of what is to become the USF Health System.
